A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the code compliance inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in code were reviewed during this SHSI.

Standard 8VAC20-790-520-F
The vendor shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.

The allergy lists present in each room were not dated and not kept confidential.
Plan of Correction: Add dates to list and put covers on it.
Standard 8VAC20-790-630-A
Areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.

In classroom #1, the windowsill had chipped paint. In classroom #2, there was an electric wire accessible to children and was sharp to the touch.
Plan of Correction: Will paint window that paint is chipping and tape electrical wire to vent away from children.
Standard 8VAC20-790-640-A
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

In classroom #2, a cabinet with cleaning materials was observed unlocked.
Plan of Correction: Will provide the locks for cabinets.
