Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on January 14, 2022. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 30 children present, ranging in ages from 7 months to 5 years, with 8 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and three staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review and interview, the center did not develop written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma, including coping with crying babies, safe sleeping practices, and sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
Evidence:
1. During the time of the inspection, there was no documentation of written procedures for the prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma to include coping with crying babies. The center had developed procedures and policies for safe sleeping practices and procedures for sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
2. Staff # 1 confirmed that written procedures for shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma had not been established.
Plan of Correction: The center will develop written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma.
