22.1 EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND EDUCATION

Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted today, April 22, 2024. The inspector was on site from approximately 10:15 am until 12:30 pm. The director was present during the inspection. There were 93 children present, ranging in ages from three months to five years, with 16 staff Supervising. Children were observed in a variety of activities including identifying items and sounds in a picture book, playing with bubbles, listening to a story, and participating in center time (play-dough, blocks, house keeping, and water table). Children had time outside on the playground where they played basketball, rode trikes and played on the climbing equipment. Interactions between staff and children were positive.
The inspectors reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and
supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and five staff records were reviewed.

Based on review of five staff records and interview, the center did not obtain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children. The documentation shall have been completed within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment.

Evidence:

1. The record of staff #4, employed 03/13/2024, contained documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening dated 03/14/2024, exceeding the first day of employment.
2. The director acknowledged the TB results for staff #4 were documented after the first day of employment.
Plan of Correction: Per the director: TB was present in file, dated one day after hire.
