Inspector Notes

A Religiously Exempt Child Day Center Code Compliance inspection was completed on July 7, 2023 from 9:40am to approximately 11:20am. There were 35 children present and seven staff members. A sample size of five children?s records were reviewed and five staff members. Child and staff interactions were observed during the entire time of the inspection. First Aid Kits and Emergency preparedness drill logs were observed. Inspector was able to view handwashing, free play, and lunch. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the site director at the exit interview.

Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the RECDC did not ensure that background checks are completed every five years.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 and Staff #2 both have their Virginia fingerprints dated May 10, 2018 which expired on May 10, 2023.
2. Director of the RECDC confirmed both Staff #1 and Staff #2's Virginia Fingerprints are expired and report checks were not completed for 2023.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center will request the Virginia background checks for Staff #1 and Staff #2 and send the results to licensing within 10 business days.
