Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and an onsite tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on November 29, 2021 and concluded on December 15, 2021. The site director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 5 children present ages three and four years old with two staff. The inspector emailed the site director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed five children?s records and two staff records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that equipment is maintained in safe condition.
Evidence:
1 - In the four year old room there was a set of plastic drawers that appear to be collapsing and not in proper working order.
2 - In the multi-purpose room there are five shelving units, approximately 6 feet tall, that are not secured to the wall and therefore pose a toppling hazard.
3 - Staff 1 stated that the shelving units in the multi-purpose room are not secured to the wall.
Plan of Correction: The plastic drawers have been removed.
A work order has been placed to secure the shelves.
