Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted today between 09:45am and 11:00am. There were 59 children present, with 15 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed playing outside, playing with Legos, writing a story and in a dance class. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on review of contractor records, the center did not ensure the contractor submitted to fingerprinting before the first day of employment.
Evidence
The dance instructor is an independent contractor and was alone with the children. The contractor does not have documentation of submitting to fingerprinting.
Plan of Correction: A staff member will always be in the dance class with the children until the contractors background check is received.

Based on review of contractor records, the center did not ensure the contractor completed a central registry finding within 30 days of employment.
Evidence
The dance instructor is an independent contractor and was alone with the children. The contractor did not complete a central registry finding within 30 days of employment.
Plan of Correction: A staff member will always be in the dance class with the children until the contractors background check is received.
Standard 8VAC20-780-520-A
Based on observation over the counter skin products were kept beyond the expiration date of the product.
Evidence
An expired diaper cream (7/2022) was located in the topical bin in the 2's classroom bathroom.
Plan of Correction: The cream was thrown away during the inspection. We will continue to inspect all creams to ensure they are not outdated.
