Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was completed on 5/23/2024 from 4:00pm-5:00pm. At the time of entrance, 22 children were in care with 2 staff members present. The sample size consisted of 5 children?s records and 2 staff records

A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date and records were reviewed at the administrative office on 5/30/2024. Both inspections combined cover subsidy and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on a review of records and interview, the licensee did not ensure that all staff obtain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence:
Two staff records were reviewed.
The record for staff #1, whose date of employment is 1/3/2024, did not contain documentation to demonstrate that staff #1 had obtained CPR certification.
The Senior Childcare Director confirmed that this training had not been completed by staff #1.
Plan of Correction: The Senior Childcare Director stated that all staff will obtain CPR Training as part of their hiring process. Staff who missed attending this training will be scheduled to take this class within 60 days.
