An unannounced code compliance inspection was conducted on 06/20/2024 from 10:10 AM to 11:40 AM. There were 78 children present, ranging in ages from 21 months to 10 years, with 18 staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, and procedures. A total of seven children?s records and seven staff?s records were reviewed.
The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.

Based on record review and interview, the center failed to update child abuse and neglect background check and sworn statement every 5 years.

Based on record review and interview, the center failed to request a search of sex offender registry prior to the first day of employment, and a criminal history name check prior to the first day of employment for any state in which a staff member resided in the preceding five years.

The sworn disclosure for staff 6, employment date 8/2023, documented living out of the state of VA in the last five years. The record for staff 6 did not contain a sex offender search or criminal history search for the other state staff 6 lived in.
