Inspector Notes

An unannounced subsidy health and safety monitoring inspection was conducted on June 11, 2024 from approximately 10:30 am to 12:10 pm. There were 42 children in attendance and a total of 5 staff present. 4 staff records and 3 children?s records were viewed. All areas of the center were observed including classrooms, bathrooms, and the playground. The children were observed playing outside, listening to a story, playing in centers, eating lunch and taking a nap, while the licensing inspector was on-site.

A code compliance inspection was also conducted on this date. The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in the code are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.

Based on record review, the center failed to obtain documentation of tuberculosis screening at the time of employment.
Evidence:
1. The record for staff #1, date of employment 10/20/2023, contained documentation of tuberculosis screening dated 01/08/2024.
Plan of Correction: Moving forward, we will obtain documentation of tuberculosis screening prior to employment.

Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that all staff shall complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment.
