Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 04/02/21 and concluded on 04/05/21. An administrator and one staff were contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present and two staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with subsidy
regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard 22VAC40-665-580-H
Based on a review of two staff records and interview, the vendor did not ensure that staff who work directly with children completed the department's health and safety update course within the required time frame for one staff member that was hired prior to March 1, 2019.

Evidence: 1) Staff #1, hired on 02/22/18, completed the Virginia Health and Safety Update Training for Child Care Staff on March 13, 2020. The required training for Subsidy Vendors and staff hired prior to March 1, 2019, was due no later than March 1, 2020.
Plan of Correction: Per the Vendor: "We will continue to get staff to complete the updates yearly."
