Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the owner and director beginning at 1:00 PM and ending at 3:02 PM. There were no children in care during the inspection. The indoor areas of the facility were inspected. Five children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Five staff records were reviewed and in compliance. There were no medications on site to be inspected. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. The emergency escape drill log was reviewed and in compliance.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, not all of the areas inside the facility were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: The plexi-glass on the wall of the lobby area had several screws sticking out creating a scratching hazard.
Plan of Correction: The protruding screws were screwed into the wall during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, the center did not ensure that the diapering surface was nonabsorbent. Evidence: The changing pad in the toddler classroom had several small tears in the surface making it absorbent.
Plan of Correction: The director stated the changing pad will be replaced with a new one.
