8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 06/12/2023 from 10:00am to 12:45pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 57 children ages 7 months to age 10 years old supervised by 8 staff. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, attendance, menus, 4 staff records, 1 volunteer record, 5 children?s records, 1 medication with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, emergency supplies, and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in snack, floor play and outside play. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
