Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A code compliance inspection was initiated and concluded on April 29, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 93 children present and 18 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed five staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility

Based on record review, in one of five staff records reviewed, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of a sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.

Evidence: The Director confirmed that there were no out of state central registry results for Staff #4 who indicated on the sworn statement as to living outside of the state of Virginia within the last five years.
Plan of Correction: When going through the staff member's file, it was found that the former director had missed the Pennsylvania child abuse background check. It could have been due to the multiple steps required and she just got sidetracked. The current director started the process yesterday and step one was to enroll in their Enterprise Organization & receive an access link. Today, I used the link to create a new Business Partner account. Now, I am waiting for approval so that I can log in and access the child welfare portal to request the background check.
