Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-800-420-A
Rooms, halls and stairways used by children in care shall be lighted with natural or electric lighting for the children?s safety and comfort.

Evidence: During naptime children were observed sleeping in rooms with doors shut and no lighting. Licensing Inspector (LI) entered the rooms and could not determine where the children were in the room or how many were present in each room without the use of a light source.
Plan of Correction: To be in compliance with the standard, sufficient lighting in the sleeping areas have been purchased, installed and improved on March 18,2026. As suggested by the licensing inspector, small space lights could be placed in the sleeping areas. Space lights have been placed directly where the children rest to provide better visibility of each child and their resting area. Several tables and chairs are stacked and rearranged to better prevent any injuries, providing more space around sleeping areas and an easier access in or out of rooms. Doors to classrooms are opened. A younger student's sleeping space have been relocated to a larger area with more natural light and not near furniture.
