Inspector Notes
An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted today. A total of 12 children (29points) with the Provider and 2 Assistants were present during the inspection. The children were seated at the tables at the beginning of the inspection eating lunch. Lunch was Kochery, which is a native dish, mandarin oranges and milk to drink. The children were observed sitting quietly and eating. Ample amounts were available for second helpings which some children requested. A nice transition was observed from the lunch tables to washing hands. One child was observed being held by one assistant while being bottle fed. The children sat on the carpet after lunch and watched a short children's program before transitioning to nap time. Observation of both programming rooms, bathroom, guest room and crib room was made. The home was found clean and organized. Crafts completed by the children this were drying. Holiday crowns were completed which were red, white and blue, similar to the Statue of Liberty. A sail boat was also on display which were made from recyclables such as paper towel holders. Positive interaction was observed between the children and the children and staff. No medication needs identified at this time and only 1 topical ointment onsite which was reviewed. No new staff hired since the last inspection. Both assistant records, Provider and household records were reviewed and found complete. All background checks remain current. The Provider no longer administers medication and did not renew the MAT certificate. A total of 5 children's records were reviewed and 1 violation found pertaining to subsequent immunizations. Two repeated violations found from the last inspection. It is imperative that non-compliances are corrected by the corrective action date. This inspection occurred between 10:30am and 1pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.
Violations
3Evidence:
The closet near the bathroom had cleaning agents stored on a shelf which was accessible to the children in care.
Evidence:
The diaper surface was covered with cloth material which allows for absorbency and prevents the surface from being properly sanitized.
This remain uncorrected from the inspection in December.
Evidence:
Child #1 and #5 are under the age of 2 years. The most recent immunizations for Child #1 was dated 09/08/2022 and 10/06/2022 for Child #5.
