Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the director beginning at 8:30 AM and ending at 10:45 AM. There were 86 children, ages ranging between 4 months and 5 years old, in the direct care of 13 staff. The children were observed eating breakfast which consisted of pancakes, peaches, and milk. Children were also observed playing with toys and manipulatives. Five children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Five staff records were reviewed and in compliance. There were no medications on site to be reviewed. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed and in compliance. The most recent emergency escape practice drill was documented as 11/9/2022. The most recent practice shelter-in-place drill was documented as 11/17/2022. The most recent health inspection was dated 7/1/2022. The most recent fire inspection was dated as 12/13/2022.

Based on observation, the facility staff did not ensure that all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: There were containers of cleaning wipes and spray bottles of cleaning solution, and 2 cans of cleaning solution in an unlocked cabinet in the school age B's classroom. There were 3 cans and 5 bottles of cleaning solutions in the PreK classroom in an unlocked cabinet.
Plan of Correction: The director will speak and retrain staff on ensuring that cabinets are locked and all hazardous substances are not accessible to children.
