Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 4/13/2021 and concluded on 4/13/2021. The provider was contacted by video call to initiate the inspection. There were 57 children present and 11 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with an applicable standard or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations

1
Standard 22VAC40-185-280-B
Based on observation, the center did not ensure cleaning materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. The children's bathroom, located next to the main entrance, had an unlocked cleaner sitting next to a toilet within the reach of children in care.
2. The Chickadees classroom had unlocked cleaners located on shelves out of the reach of children in care.
Plan of Correction: The cleaner in the bathroom will be locked in the closet. The classroom cleaners will be locked when not being used.
