Staff #6 administered a prescription diaper cream to Child #1. Staff #6 had a medication training that only allowed them to administer emergency medications.

Plan of Correction: Diaper cream was discarded. All staff and parents have been reminded of the medication policy: All medication has to come to the front desk first and only MAT trained staff can administer prescription creams.

When an authorization for medication expires, the parent shall be notified that the medication needs to be picked up within 14 days or the parent must renew the authorization. Medications that are not picked up by the parent within 14 days will be disposed of by the center.

In the toddler classroom, the diaper ointment for Child #6 expired over one year ago. The diaper ointment kept for Child #7, had expired over 6 months ago. The diaper ointment for Child #8 had expired over four months ago.
