Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contact, documentation review, interview, and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/5/22 and concluded on 5/9/22. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 70 children present, ranging in age from four-months to five-years-old, with 13 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, medication, special care and emergencies, and nutrition. A total of four child records and four staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

If you have questions regarding this inspection you may contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-E
Based on review of four staff records and interview, the center did not ensure that staff completed orientation training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of employment. Evidence: The record for Staff A, with a start date of 3/22/22, and the record for Staff B, with a start date of 3/25/22, did not contain documentation of completing orientation training in first aid and CPR. The director confirmed that Staff A and Staff B had not received that training.
Plan of Correction: We will make sure we meet the new requirement moving forward. Staff A and Staff B are scheduled to be certified in First Aid and CPR on 5/10/22.
