A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the code compliance inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in code were reviewed during this SHSI.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

The center is required to obtain an allergy care plan for each child with diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
The enrollment document for child #3 reported a food allergy to bananas and broccoli.
The center did not have a have a written allergy care plan for child #3.
Plan of Correction: The program director supplied child #3's parent with the form on 9/9/2025 to obtain child #3's allergy care plan documented and signed by their physician.
Standard 8VAC20-790-600-F
Staff who work directly with children shall, in addition to preservice and orientation training are required to annually attend at least 16 hours of training and staff development activities, to include the department's health and safety update course.
Staff #4 did not have any documented training in the previous12 month period, aside from the department's health and safety update course which totals 3 training hours.
Plan of Correction: Employee did not complete the required training hours for ?2024?. Informed employee that she will have to complete a minimum of 40 hours of early childhood training by December ?2025?. Will monitor bi-weekly to make sure she stays on course.
