Inspector Notes

Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced monitoring inspection. This on-site visit was conducted on February 13, 2023, from 11:20 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. Upon arrival, there were 24 children, ages 3-4, with 5 staff supervising, in two classrooms. Annual staff record review was conducted on February 24, 2023.

Areas observed were, educational activities, music/movement, hand washing/bathroom procedures, lunch, teeth brushing and nap. The classrooms are equipped with a wide variety of educational materials for the children in care. The children appeared to be well aware of their daily routine and schedule.

Based on record review, the center failed to have one staff member complete the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence:

1. Four staff records were reviewed and updated.
2. Staff #3 did not have documentation of taking the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.
3. Staff #3's date of hire was documented 10/31/2022. Staff #3's Virginia Department of Education orientation course was documented 2/22/2023.
4. The director confirmed the orientation course had not be completed within 90 calendar days of hire.
