Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 4/27/21 and concluded on 4/28/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 11 children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Based on review of two staff records, the center did not obtain the results of a search of the central registry for another state in which an employee lived in the previous five years within 30 days of employment or follow up on the results of the request within 45 days. Evidence: Staff A, with a start date of 8/10/20, disclosed on their sworn statement that they had lived in the state of Florida within the past 5 years. The record for Staff A does not contain the results of a central registry search from Florida.
Plan of Correction: We did obtain a Sex Offender search from Florida and did not realize there was another background check we needed. We printed the form and will have the employee complete it today.
