Inspector Notes

An unannounced code compliance inspection was completed on 04/02/2025. The on-site inspection began at 11:00am and ended at 1:30pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above.There were 106 children present with 20 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 4 staff records. This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, observations and measurements. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 22.1-289.031-A-9
The center is required to be in compliance with all safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

1. A baby was not put to sleep on their back, rather was placed on his side. The AAP recommends babies are put to sleep on their back.

2. Babies were observed sleeping in cribs with blankets. The APP recommends nothing in the crib with the baby it except a fitted sheet covering the mattress.

The center is required to obtain the required out-of-state background checks for each staff member that has lived out of the state for Virginia within the past 5 years. Staff C indicated living outside the state of Virginia within the past 5 years. The center did not have the required background checks for that state.

Child day programs in building built before 2015 are required to be equipped with at least one
carbon monoxide detector. The center is located in a building built in 1991 and dis not have a carbon monoxide detector.
