Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 4/18/23 from 11:55 am to 1:15 pm. There were no children present in the back up program. There were 4 staff present preparing for activities for the rest of the week. 4 staff records, injury reports and emergency drill records were reviewed. There were no medications on site. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on records review and staff interview, the center did not obtain the results of an out of state criminal record check prior to the first day of employment, and results of a child abuse and neglect search within 45 days of employment, for an employee that resided outside of Virginia within the last 5 years.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1's records indicated that she resided in Wisconsin and Illinois within the last five years from her first date of employment.
2. Staff # 1 verbally confirmed the above mentioned information about her residence in the two states.
3. The center did not obtain results of the criminal record check and sex offender search for Staff # 1 to this date for both states.
4. The center did not obtain the results of a central registry search for Illinois to this date.
Plan of Correction: The searches will be completed and a follow up will be conducted with the licensing inspector.
