Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on August 31, 2023 from approximately 4:30 pm to 05:30 pm. There were 18 children in attendance and a total of 3 staff present. 3 staff records and 3 children?s records were viewed. All areas of the center were observed including the gym, cafeteria, playgrounds, and bathrooms. The children were observed playing games in the gym, while the licensing inspector was on-site.

Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.

Please complete the plan of correction and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today, 09/19/2023. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Your plan of correction should contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again, and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventative measure(s).

Based on a review of staff files and an interview with Administrative staff , it was determined that the program director does not meet he qualifications for the position.
Evidence:
The record for staff #3, date of employment 01/16/2023, identified as the program director, did not contain documentation to demonstrate that they are qualified for their position . When interviewed, administration confirmed that the program director did not have the required qualifications.

Repeat Violation
Based on records review, and interview, the center failed to ensure that the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course shall be completed within 90 calendar days of employment.
Evidence:
1. The record for staff #1, date of employment 08/11/22, and the record for staff #2, date of employment 05/18/23 did not contain documentation of completion of the VDOE course.
2. The record for staff #3, date of employment 01/16/23, contained documentation of the Virginia Department of Education sponsored orientation course dated 08/30/2023.
