Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 2/9/2022 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with the provider. There were five children in care, ranging in age from seven-months to four-years-old, for a total of 12 points. Children were observed playing a matching game together and with the provider. Four child records, one caregiver record, two household member records, and two pet records were reviewed. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid. One child medication and authorization form was reviewed and the provider has current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT). Lunch today will be macaroni and cheese, hotdogs, mixed vegetables, oranges, and milk. The first aid kit, flashlight, weather band radio, and fire extinguisher were observed. The emergency drill log, attendance, and menu were also reviewed. Standard 8VAC20-800-180-A
Based on record review and interview, the provider did not obtain a current Tuberculosis (TB) screening for each caregiver every two years from the date of the first screening. Evidence: The most recent TB screening on record for Caregiver #1 was dated 1/6/2020.
Plan of Correction: The test was completed on 2/9/22 and results will be read on 2/12/22.
Standard 8VAC20-800-730-D
Based on observation and interview, refrigerated medication for household members was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: On 2/9/22 a refrigerated prescription medication for Household Member A was observed in the refrigerator on a shelf on the door. There was no locking method to prevent access by children.
Plan of Correction: The medication is no longer being used and will be discarded. Moving forward I will be sure that medication needing refrigeration is locked.
