Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A virtual monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/21/21 and concluded on 5/25/21. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 58 children and 10 staff present.

The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children and 2 staff files to ensure documentation was complete.
The information gathered during the inspection determined one violation with applicable standards or law.

Violations

1
Standard 22VAC40-185-350-E-1
Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the center did not maintain the 1:4 ratio of staff to children.
Evidence:
During the virtual inspection, it was determined that there were 10 toddlers with 2 staff, however the youngest child in the classroom, child A was 15 months of age, which requires a 1:4 ratio.
Plan of Correction: We will obtain written permission from the parent and document assessments from the infant's previous teacher and the assistant director so that we can maintain the higher ratio.
