Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, document review and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/15/2021 and concluded on 11/30/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 8 children, ages 15 months-3 years, and 3 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 children?s records and 2 staff records were reviewed.

New requirements became effective on October 13, 2021. The facility has not yet complied with the following requirement(s):
? 8VAC20-780-40-K The center shall develop written procedures for prevention of shaken baby syndrome or abusive head trauma, including coping with crying babies, safe sleeping practices, and sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
? 8VAC20-780-40-M The center shall maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions documented in the allergy plan required in 8VAC20-780-60 A 8. This list shall be dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.

The facility is to review the new requirements and work with their assigned inspector to ensure future compliance

Based on record review and discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that there shall always be at least one staff member on duty who has obtained within the last three years instruction in performing the daily health observation of children.

Evidence: There were three staff present during the 11/30/2021 inspection; none of the staff members present during the 11/30/2021 inspection has received instruction in performing the daily health observation of children within the last three years.
Plan of Correction: Will find a class to attend as soon as possible.
