Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:26am until 10:30am. There were 24 children directly supervised by 6 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, playing outside, and eating breakfast. Hand-washing procedures and cleaning proceedures were also observed. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on observation, children aged 3 or younger were offered foods that are considered choking hazards.
Evidence:
On the date of inspection three year old children were observed to be offered whole grapes as a breakfast component.
Plan of Correction: In the future, grapes will be sliced prior to serving to children at risk for choking.
