Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted beginning at 9:45 a.m. and ending at 11:00 a.m. with the provider. There were five children in care, ages two through four years old for a total of ten points. Children were observed watching an age appropriate television program while one child finished breakfast. After the child finished eating, children moved downstairs for free play with a variety of toys and equipment. Childcare areas and supplies were observed. A walkthrough of the home was conducted. Emergency supplies including a working battery operated radio and flashlight were present. Five children's records, one provider record and one household member record were reviewed. The provider completed 16 hours of annual training for the license year.

The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable laws or regulations. No violations were issued.

Standard 22.1-289.036-A
Based on review of documentation, it was determined that the provider did not obtain documentation of fingerprint background checks every five years as required for all household members. Evidence: Household member #1 most recent fingerprint background check was dated 2/26/2018. The repeat background check for Household member #1 was dated 5/12/2023.
Plan of Correction: The background check for household member #1 was conducted in December of 2022. I received emailed results, but did not realize that the results were duplicates and did not include Household member #1. Once the error was realized, I requested the results for the background check and received the results the same day.
