During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on 3/09/2026. The on-site inspection began at 10:20 am and ended at 11:50 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 3 children present and 1 caregiver; the point total was 8. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 1 caregiver record on-site.

This inspection included: document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations
A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the licensing inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this SHSI.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-180-B
The provider shall maintain a written hard copy of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.

There were three children in attendance, and the daily attendance had not been taken to document the arrival of each child as it occurred.
Plan of Correction: The children will be checked in and out upon arrival and departure.
Standard 8VAC20-790-390-A
Children?s hands shall be washed before and after eating meals and snacks and caregivers shall wash their hands with soap and running water before preparing or serving food or beverages.

The children did not wash their hands after the morning snack. Caregiver 1 did not wash their hands before serving the morning snack.
Plan of Correction: Children's hands will be washed before and after eating. I will wash hands before serving food.

Tables and high chair trays shall be cleaned and sanitized daily and before and after each use for feeding.

The table and two high chair trays were not clean and sanitized before being used for the morning snack.

When a child is placed in a high chair, the protective belt shall be fastened securely.

Child 1 and Child 2 were both in high chairs without the protective belts securely fastened.

There were 5 kitchen knives in a dish drying rack on the kitchen counter that were accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: They were put away during the inspection. Will be kept in a locked drawer.

Medications shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

There was a bottle of liquid children?s allergy medication on the kitchen counter.
Plan of Correction: The medication was locked in a cabinet away from children.

When family day homes provide meals or snacks, the family day home shall follow the most recent, age-appropriate nutritional requirements of a recognized authority such as the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

The children were served only snack crackers for the morning snack; two components are required to be served to be considered a snack.
Plan of Correction: Two components will be served with each snack.
