8VAC20-790 Subsidy Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 6/1/2023 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There were fifty-four children present with ten staff providing supervision. The ages of the children ranged from 3 months to 5 years. Children were observed playing with slime and engaging in water play. Handwashing was also observed. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, attendance, menus, four staff records, four children?s records, emergency drills, injury reports and emergency supplies were reviewed. Three medications and their authorization forms were reviewed.
There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training, (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
