Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/1/22. There were 24 children present with 6 staff supervising. The children were observed playing outdoors, using chalk for an art activity, playing with Legos and other age appropriate materials. The children were also observed eating lunch which included turkey sloppy joe on wheat buns, corn and green beans, cantaloupe and milk. Medications and emergency first aid supplies were reviewed, 3 children's records , 2 staff records and emergency drill records were also reviewed.

Standard 22.1-289.035-B-2
Based on records review and staff interview, the center did not obtain results of a fingerprint based criminal history search prior to the first day of employment for a new employee.
Evidence:
1. Staff # 1's record and timesheets showed that her first day of employment was 2/22/22.
2. Staff # 2 also verbally confirmed that Staff # 1's first day of employment was 2/22/22.
3. Staff # 1's fingerprint results were dated 3/2/22.
Plan of Correction: We will make sure that fingerprint results are obtained prior to the first day of hire.
Standard 8VAC20-780-260-A
Based on record review and staff interview, the center did not obtain an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official.
Evidence:
1. The date of the most recent fire inspection was 5/4/21.
2. Staff # 2 confirmed that a current fire inspection had not been conducted.
Plan of Correction: The fire inspection request will be completed and the inspection will be done by the end of the week.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-D
Based on records review, the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill.
Evidence: There was no documentation of an evacuation drill conducted for the June 2022.
Plan of Correction: Evacuation drills will be conducted each month and documented.
