Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on June 24, 2021 and concluded on June 28, 2021. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were no children in care and two administrators available for the inspection. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Please complete the plan of correction and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to me within 5 business days from today. You will need to specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Just writing the word `corrected? is not acceptable. Your plan of correction must contain: 1) steps to correct the noncompliance with the standard(s): 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventive measure(s).

Based on record review, program did not ensure that results from a criminal history check and sex offender registry check were completed from any state in which an employee had resided within the preceding five years, prior to first date of employment.

Evidence:
1. Date of employment for Staff #2 was 4/15/21.
2. For one prior state of residency, the sex offender check results were not in the file.
3. For the second prior state of residency, the sex offender check and criminal history check results were not in the file.
4. Administrator confirmed she was not aware of the additional background check requirements and would request them.
