Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on January 14, 2025 and completed on January 14, 2025. The on-site inspection began at 12:05pm and ended at 4:05pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 90 children present and 7 staff. The inspector reviewed 9 children?s records and 9 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 1/22/2025. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Three packs of wax melts with the warning labels, ?Keep out of reach of children,? were unlocked in a cabinet in the 2-3 year old classroom.
Plan of Correction: The teacher was informed that the wax melts should not be in the classroom. They were removed and brought home the same day.
Standard 8VAC20-780-440-E
There shall be at least 12 inches of space between occupied cots, beds, and rest mats. Four occupied cots were less than 12 inches apart in the 2-3 year old classroom.
Plan of Correction: We discussed with the teacher that each mat must be 12 inches apart. It was corrected at nap time the next day.
