Inspector Notes
An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on 11/3/2022 to investigate an allegation received by the department related to supervision of children. Based on evidence gathered through observations, interviews and a review of photos and documentation, the complaint was determined to be valid. A violation notice was issued to the facility. Based on observation, interviews, and a review of photos and documentation it was determined that the facility failed to ensure the children's care, protection, and guidance. Evidence: 1) from 11/1/2022 -11/3/2022 there were approximately 7 documented incidents in the toddler classroom including four bites and two scratches. 2) from 10/12/2022 - 10/31/2022 there were approximately 14 documented incidents in the toddler classroom including 6 bites and eight scratches to the face and neck area. 3) interviews revealed that one staff member in the toddler classroom is typically seated on the floor while the second staff walks around supervising.
Plan of Correction: We have assigned 4 trainings (Health Social & Emotional Development vs Challenging Behavior in Young Children, Safety in Infant Toddler Classroom, Age Appropriate Activities in Infant/ Toddlers, Understanding Aggressive & Defiant Behaviors) through CCEI. Toddler classroom room was rearranged, as well as additional enrichment activities were added to assist with classroom routines.
