Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/02/2023 from 11:05 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. There were 58 children present, ranging in ages from ages with number staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of number child records and number staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-550-A
Based on observation and interview, the center failed to wash staff and children?s hands after diapering.
Evidence:
1. In the Infant A room, Staff #13 did not wash their hands or the child?s hands after a diaper change. Staff #13 confirmed that they did not wash their hands or the child?s hands after the diaper change.
2. In the Infant B room, Staff #9 did not wash the child?s hands after a diaper change. Staff #9 confirmed that they did not wash the child?s hands after the diaper change.
Plan of Correction: Staff has been reminded of handwashing procedures on 11/2 and will be trained on handwashing procedures at staff meeting.
