8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 10/14/2022 from 9:00am to 11:30am to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 13 children ages 18 months to age 4 years old supervised by 6 staff. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 3 staff records, 3 children?s records, emergency drills, 2 injury reports, and emergency supplies were reviewed. There were no medications onsite. Children were observed participating in dramatic play, playing with cars, and eating. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
