8VAC20-790 SUBSIDY REGULATIONS.
Inspector Notes
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternative remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on February 14, 2022 and concluded on February 16, 2022. There were 17 children present with 2 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on review of 2 staff records and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course shall be completed within 90 calendar days of employment.
Evidence. The record for staff #2 did not include documentation of the orientation course. Date of hire was 6-24-2021.
Plan of Correction: Staff will complete the necessary trainings.
Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on 2 staff records reviewed and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure all staff had obtained staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence: The record for staff #2 did not include a CPR certificate. Center staff confirmed date of hire 6-24-2021 and that staff had not obtained the CPR training.
Plan of Correction: Staff will complete the necessary trainings.
Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-2
Based on 2 staff records reviewed and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure all staff had obtained staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in first aid appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence: The record for staff #2 did not include a first aid certificate. Center staff confirmed date of hire 6-24-2021 and that staff had not obtained first aid training.
