Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on February 14, 2022 and concluded on February 16, 2022. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 17 children present, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-160-C
Based on review of 2 staff records and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure at least every two years from the date of the first initial screening or testing staff members shall obtain and submit the results of a follow-up tuberculosis screening.

Evidence. The record for staff #1 did not include an updated TB screening the most recent one available for review was dated 11-12-2019.
Plan of Correction: Director will get TB screenings ASAP.
Standard 8VAC20-780-530-A-1
Based on review of 2 staff records and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure there was at least one staff with current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate to the age of the children in care from an organization such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.

Evidence. There were only two staff on site during the inspection (staff #1 and staff #2). The record for staff #1 did not include an updated CPR certification, most recent certificate expired 1-15-2022. Staff #2 did not have CPR certification.
Plan of Correction: Staff will obtain proper CPR certifications and updates. Staff #1 by 2-15-2022. Staff #2 by 2-24-2022.
