Inspector Notes
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was started in the center on February 5, 2024 from 5:15 PM until 6:10 PM and concluded on February 8, 2024. At the time of entrance 13 children were in care with 2 staff members and 1 volunteer. A licensing inspection was also conducted. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please contact the Licensing Inspector, Christine Mahan (757) 404-0568 with any questions.
Violations
1Based record review and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure staff who work directly
with children shall have, a current certification in First Aid appropriate to the ages of children
in care.
Evidence:
Staff #1 and Staff#2?s First Aid cards do not meet the requirements for a certification for the children in care, as the cards state ?This program is not designed to meet pediatric first aid regulatory requirements and should not be used for the that purpose.?. The First Aid cards are from the American Safety & Health Institute, and they define pediatric first aid as? a course designed for childcare workers and bus drivers?. Staff #1 and Staff #2 were the only two staff working in the program.
