Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted Tuesday July 19, 2022 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspection began at 9:36 AM and concluded at 11:58 AM. The center's director was available to answer questions throughout the inspection. The census for today's inspection consisted of 68 children in care and 10 staff supervising. During the tour, the inspector observed the children, playing with age appropriate material, playing with blocks, participating in water play, playing on the playground, playing with infant toys, and interacting with peers and staff. The inspector observed all 5 classrooms, playgrounds, kitchen, and restrooms. Staff were observed interacting with children in a positive manner. The classrooms are equipped with age and stage appropriate materials. The center's first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The required postings were inspected and found to be in compliance. Liability insurance, health inspection, and drills were all in compliance. There were five children's and five staff records reviewed. There were violations cited during this inspection.

Based on review of inspection documents, the facility failed to have documentation of a annual approval from the health department. Evidence: the last documented health inspection was conducted 6/10/2021.
Plan of Correction: Will call the department of health to schedule an inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the June Bugs Classroom, the cabinet under the sink contained 3 cleaning products and was unlocked.
Plan of Correction: Will remind classrooms to lock up products.
