An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/14/2023 from 12:30 pm to 2:05 pm. At the time of entrance, 9 children, ages 2 months to 4 years old, for a total of 26 points, were in care with 2 caregivers present. The sample size consisted of 5 children?s records and 2 provider / assistant provider records. Children were observed resting quietly on cots, playing with toys and manipulatives, being bottle fed and sitting in bouncy seats. Diapering procedures and hand washing were observed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-800-500-C
Based on observation, the licensee did not ensure that stationary outdoor playground equipment is placed at least six feet from the perimeter of other play structures or obstacles.
Evidence:
There are 4 slide shoots on the 2 stationary playsets in the outdoor play area which vary in placement, but are less than 6 feet from the landscape borders surrounding the play structures.
Plan of Correction: The licensee stated that the landscape borders will be temporarily removed in any areas where there is less than 6 feet distance from the play structures.
Before replacing the borders, the licensee will measure to ensure that a minimum of 6 feet is maintained between the borders and all sides of the play structures.
