Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted on 9/11/23 from 10:30am until 1:20pm. At the time of the inspection, there were 104 children in care with 18 staff. A sample of 9 children's records and 8 staff records were reviewed. Children were observed engaging in morning learning activities, free play, playing on the playground and eating lunch. Diapering and handwashing procedures were also observed. First aid and emergency supplies, medication, documentation of emergency practice drills and required center postings were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law. Violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program and discussed with the center director during the exit interview.

Based on a review of the emergency drill log and interview, the center did not ensure that a record of the dates of the practice drills are maintained for one year.

Evidence:
1. There was no monthly practice evacuation drill documented for August 2023.
2. The center director confirmed that the practice evacuation drill for the month of August 2023 was not documented on the emergency drill log.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: This was an oversight. The practice evacuation drill for August 2023 was conducted on 8/17/23; however, it was not documented in the center's emergency drill log. Going forward, center management will ensure each practice drill is documented as they occur.
