Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on August 23, 2024, as a part of current licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 11:30am and ended at 12:15pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 9 children present and 2 staff. The inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 2 staff records on-site.

This inspection included:
? document review of policies and procedures, emergency drill logs, authorization forms,
? tour of the facility,
? interviews,
? observations of the children singing and dancing, playing with puzzles, and preparing for lunch.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or
law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations

Standard 8VAC20-800-430-A
Based on observation and interview, children under two years of age and children over two years of age who are not developmentally ready to climb or descend stairs without supervision will have access to stairs.

Evidence: The barrier to stairs to upper level was not installed but leaning against the stairs.
Plan of Correction: The gate will be properly secured to the wall and used daily going forward.
