Inspector Notes
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/23/2023 with the center director and staff. There were 37 children present, ranging in ages from 5 years to 12 years, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 2 staff records were reviewed. The children were playing on the computers, in the game room, and the theater room.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
Based on review of two staff records, the facility failed to have documentation of a completed search of the central registry (CPS check) on file for each staff within the first 30 days of employment. Evidence: Staff 1 (date of employment 6/13/2022) did not have a completed search of the central registry on file. There was no documentation of having submitted the search of the central registry within 7 days of employment as required
Plan of Correction: The director will contact Va Dept of Social Services to check the status of the CPS check.
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Based on review of two staff files, the facility failed to have each staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment. Evidence: Staff 2 (date of employment 6/6/2022) did not have documentation of the 10 hour Virginia Preservice Training.
Plan of Correction: Staff 2 is working on the 10 hour training and should be done soon.
