Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. with the director. There were 124 children in care ages 6 months through 10 years old under the care and supervision of 21 staff. Children were observed engaged in a variety of activities including music class, outdoor play, story time, lunch, transition time and free play activities. Classrooms, supplies and materials were observed.

Eight staff records, ten children's records, seven medications and authorizations, staff training, and emergency drills were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of medications and interview with staff, it was determined that the center did not follow it's policy for expired medication and for nonprescription medication, be consistent with the manufacturer's instructions for age, duration, and dosage. Evidence: Child #5 had a Benadryl on site that expired 4/30/2022.
Child #6, date of birth 11/15/2019, had Benadryl on site and it includes a manufacturers instruction "Do not use unless directed by a doctor" for ages 2-5 years of age and was only accompanied by a parental authorization.

Based on review of documentation, the center did not obtain a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy from a physician. Evidence: Child #5 has a diagnosed food allergy to eggs, Child #6 has a diagnosed food allergy to peanuts and Child #7 has a diagnosed food allergy to peanut, tree nuts and there was no allergy care plan in the file.
