Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documentation review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was initiated on 8/6/2021 and concluded on 8/10/2021. There were 78 children present with 17 staff supervising. A code compliance inspection was also conducted on this date.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review and interview the vendor failed to ensure one out of four staff completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment.

Evidence:

1. The Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff certificate was provided for staff 3. The certificate was dated 8/9/21. The documentation provided for staff 3 stated the hire date for staff 3 was 2/22/21.
2. The vendor stated staff 3 misunderstood what was required.
Plan of Correction: In the future the vendor will ensure all staff complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within 90 days of employment by reviewing the completed certificate.
