Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 05/06/2021 and concluded on 05/13/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 149 children present and 26 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 4 staff records and 4 children's records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The licensing inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Based on record review, the center failed to obtain, prior to employment, the results of a criminal record check and sex offender check from any state the individual has resided in within the past five year.

Evidence:
1. The results of an out-of-state criminal record check and sex offender check, for staff 1, were obtained after her hire date of 01/27/2021.
a. Written documentation indicate the results of both out-of-state background checks were obtained on 01/29/2021.
Plan of Correction: Going forward, the results of required out-of-state sex offender checks and criminal record checks will be obtained before the individual begins employment.
