Inspector Notes

An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 01/10/24 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in conjunction with a monitoring inspection (see that inspection report for details). The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. One staff record was reviewed for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice, Health & Safety Update training, and current certification in First Aid and CPR. There are no children currently enrolled with diagnosed food allergies. The last lockdown drill was documented on 06/28/23. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Beth Velke, at beth.velke@doe.virginia.gov or 804-629-8302.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-790-180-B
Based on review of documentation and interview with the provider, the provider did not maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.

Evidence: At approximately 9:05 a.m. on 01/10/24 the attendance record contained documentation of four children in care. There were only two children in care. The provider reported that two children will be coming soon. An interview with the provider revealed that they document all the children at the beginning of the day, so they don?t forget to write their names down. The standard requires documentation of children in care as it occurs.
Plan of Correction: Correct the documentation and attendance of each child as soon as child arrives.
